Carol Jones

Carol started dancing in South Africa when she was 4 years old and she participated in her first competition at 7 years.  She competed for 20 years and also danced with her studio in an annual choreography competition.  She competed successfully at the Championship level before deciding to concentrate on judging competitions.   



Carol has been judging competitions in South Africa and England since 2005.  She judges from the Beginner to Premier levels.



She assisted with substitute teaching for all levels and ages in South Africa before moving to Switzerland, where she later opened the School of Highland Dancing Basel. 



In addition to many smaller shows and exhibitions, Carol has participated twice in the Edinburgh Military Tattoo in 2006 and 2007, the second time also as a team leader.  She choreographed the dance and managed the South African Highland Dance Team that participated in the Basel Tattoo 2008 and 2010.  She also performed with the OzScot Dance Academy in the Edinburgh Military Tattoo that was staged in Sydney, Australia in 2010.

  • Adjudicators'

Carol is a member of the Scottish Dance Teachers' Association, one of the three Highland Dancing bodies recognised by the Scottish Official Board of Highland Dancing.
